Job:  Customer Service Representative
Location:  Kingston or Warwick, NY
Pay:  $20-$22/hour
Schedule:  Full Time rotating between 8am-4:30pm and 9:30am-6pm
Job Type:  Temporary for several months


SUMMARY
The Customer Service Representative Handles all phases of Residential and Business customer contacts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  
  • Prepare, review and process applications for service and service orders for.
  • Sell all products and services for through cross-selling or telemarketing.
  • Receives, records, and distributes trouble reports or service orders to crews based on customer request/need.
  • Assist in testing customer lines, cable pair assignment and cable cutovers.
  • Updates computerized customer record as applicable.
  • Follows up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Record announcements for customer line changes and in-house voice systems.
  • Have complete understanding of billing system and procedures.
  • Answer customer questions and complaints.
  • Handle store contacts and equipment sales either by phone or in person
  • Understand store inventory levels and equipment ordering process
  • Analyze accounts to determine if deposit is required.
  • Assist manager to study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of department processes.
  • Prove bank deposits when scheduled in Vernon office.
  • Review inventory levels when scheduled in Vernon office.
  • Work with external vendors and companies within the industry.
  • Assist in the cross training of duties and responsibilities.
  • Handle all aspects of special circuits.
  • Regular attendance is essential in this position.
  • Adhere to company safety regulations.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to deal with customers effectively, having good communication skills and a thorough knowledge of the Company’s products and services.
  • Must be able to solve problems and be tactful especially when working under pressure.
  • Must be accurate, be able to follow instructions and problem solve.
TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE
  • Must have good PC skills and be proficient with Word, Excel, the Internet and e-mail.
  • Ability to access, update, and utilize Nortel DMS switches, the iSeries (AS/400) computer must be attained and maintained via on the job utilization of these platforms.
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, Access and Visio are a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients or other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Employee must be available to work overtime as required, be able to travel for conferences, seminars, and other off-site functions and must adhere to Company policies and procedures.  Regular attendance is essential (i.e. is consistently at work and on time).
