TITLE: REGISTERED NURSE SCHEDULE: MON-FRI 08:30AM-0430PM OR 09:00AM-05:30PM
OCCATIONAL ON CALL PAYRATE:Â Â RATE STARTS AT $38.46/HR PLUS INCREASES FOR EXPERIENCE AND A BSN POSITION TYPE:Â TEMP UNTIL MID DECEMBER
SUMMARY:
The Nurse is an integral part of the clinical team providing nursing care and treatment to the students. Additionally, the Nurse is a resource to both staff and students regarding medical/health issues.
QUALITY OF LIFE EXPECTATION FOR ALL STAFF:
To actively further the agency’s mission to optimize quality of life (QofL) for individuals served by monitoring and implementing systems that promote the QofL of the individuals in our care.
Task #1:
Provides professional assessment of student illness/injury providing appropriate follow-up to closure.
Standards:
 Responses to calls reporting changes in students’ conditions are investigated and followed up in a timely manner.
 Documentation of findings is clear and spells out action taken and outcome. Includes dissemination of information to all appropriate team members.
 Physician is notified of all changes in student condition when necessary in an appropriate and timely manner.
Task #2:
Attends various committees/meetings (as delegated by supervisor) pertaining to student health issues when those issues are identified and addressed. Examples of such committees may include, but are not limited to, Psychotropic Drug Review; student intake interviews; Infection Control.
Standards:
Information obtained at committees/meetings is shared with appropriate staff.
 Any medication related issues, i. e., side effects, adverse effects, allergic reaction, and/or lack of expected response to medication are identified accurately, treated appropriately, shared with appropriate staff, and documented clearly.
Task #3:
Maintains up-to-date communication of student health status to family and pertinent staff.
Standards:
 Families and staff are notified of medical issues; medication changes; and other related issues as they occur.
 Communication is done in a professional manner promoting a clear understanding of information.
 Nurse is available to answer any questions that may arise.
Task #4:
Maintains strict adherence to all Infection Control protocols as they relate to student injury and illness in accordance with CDC standards.
Standards:
 Displays a good understanding of infection control practice, i. e., universal precautions, hand-washing...acting as an educator for both staff and students in this realm. Provides on the spot intervention when necessary to maintain good practice.
Participates in new employee orientation, providing appropriate infection control information relating to both staff and students.
All immunizations and testing (i. e., annual TB screening) are up to date with a tracking system in place to ensure compliance.
Task #5:
Acts as an integral part of the nursing team.
Standards:
 Communicates openly with peers, sharing information and maintaining an environment conducive to open communication.
 Time and attendance is within acceptable standards and all time off is pursued according to policy.
Task #6:
Administers medications and provides training to staff in medication certification program.
Standards:
 Doctor’s orders are picked up accurately and medications are administered as specified.
Training is done meeting all Agency guidelines. All staff are supervised annually by a RN to ensure caliber of practice meets criteria.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a current NYS license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in good standing.
