Job Title:  Chief Financial Officer
Salary:  $80,000

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER


Qualifications - MBA, 3 years experience; or BA in Business Management, 5 years
experience; or 7 years experience in accounting and fiscal jobs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creation of Agency budgets
  • Report financial information and trends to the Board and manage relationships with the Board's Finance and Audit Committee.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and leadership team on key strategic issues and decisions, informed by rigorous financial analyses, risk assessments, "what if" scenario modeling, and due diligence
  • Act as liaison to accounting firm, consultants and funding sources
Financial Management
  • Develop and manage dynamic financial and business planning models, along with performance metrics, that drive the development of monthly and quarterly reports and the annual budgeting process
  • Oversee grants and contract management to ensure optimal revenue and compliance, working with both institutional advancement staff and principal Investigators to ensure the appropriate fiscal management of grants and contracts and reporting to all funders
  • Recognize and anticipate opportunities and challenges related to financial systems and processes
  • Ensure all financial audits and related filings are completed on-time and in good standing
  • Ensure that all facilities practices and expenditures are in compliance with relevant regulations and funding / grant commitments
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare pro-forma financial statements.
  • Monitor general ledger activity to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency forms.
  • Ensure all internal controls and financial procedures are being followed including any regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop short and long-term financial plans and projections.
Candidate Requirements
  • 5+ years of financial leadership experience, with a minimum of three years of experience leading the finance function for a dynamic nonprofit organization
  • Exceptional strategic and analytical skills, including financial planning, forecasting, modeling and data analysis
  • Track record of providing enterprise-wide financial planning and analysis to support decision-making, budget development and budget management
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with and engage diverse, board members and team leaders
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, complex organization, working with teams with diverse schedules and goals
  • Strong communication skills; confidently and clearly conveys information and the rationale for decisions
  • Takes a teaching orientation when working with others; able to translate complex information and empower others to utilize financial information when making decisions
  • Experience with MIP Fund Accounting


 

Job Requirements

5+ years of accounting experience with minimum of 3 years Nonprofit experience
