SCHEDULE: FULL TIME, 1 WEEKEND DAY A WEEK REQUIRED   
PAYRATE: $17-19/HR
TEMP- PERM

Position Summary:
  • An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals
  • They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking
  • Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important
  • The cook will prepare meals and follow establishment recipes
  • Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food in a fast-paced environment
  • Work may include operating a grill, oven, or fryer
  • Previous experience in a team environment and various cooking methods preferred
Position Responsibilities:
In a manner consistent with Mission Statement and applicable laws and regulations, an employee in this position shall: 
  • Setting up, cleaning, and organizing work stations 
  • Assign tasks and direct kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and cleanup in absence of the Director of Food Services 
  • Maintain control of the kitchen to ensure that all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively 
  • Make sure that all kitchen staff adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen 
  • Execute menus making adjustments as needed based on the availability of ingredients 
  • Inspect raw and cooked food items to guarantee that the highest quality products are prepared and served to students 
  • Maintain kitchen equipment; schedule repairs and additional maintenance as needed 
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check & pre-employment drug screen

Essential Skills and Experience: 
  • Significant experience as a cook 
  • Previous experience in a team environment and various cooking methods preferred
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Creativity 
  • Ability to oversee and manage kitchen operations 
  • Ability to remain productive when pulled in many different directions 
  • Ability to use sound judgment while following agency policies, practices and procedures.

Education: 
High School diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 
  • Ability to lift up to 48 pounds, carry 48 pounds, and push/pull 35 pounds of force
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces 
  • Ability to adapt to changes in room temperature
  • Ability to work in the presence of loud background noise Employees will regularly be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands (or hands and arms) to carry, finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; crouch and kneel
  • Employees will also be regularly required to hear (with or without hearing devices), see (with or without corrective lenses) and speak.
