 Job: Packer / Shipper
Location:Â Highland, NY
Pay:Â $17/hour with growth potential
Job Type:Â Full Time, Temp to Perm (Union once Perm)
Schedule:Â Monday - Thursday 2nd Shift 2pm - 12:30am
Job Summary:
The general responsibility of the packer / shipper is to ensure that customer orders are securely packed and shipped with the correct documentation in order of priority.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Packs items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers ensuring stability.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons
Assists with loading items on to shipping truck or trailer for pick up.
Physical Demands:
Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
Ability to frequently stand, walk, reach within hands and arm’s length, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision requirements include close vision.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Includes safety glasses and additional protection as required by law and safety policy.
Work Environment:
Will be required to work in manufacturing & warehouse areas. Will be exposed to a noisy environment routinely.
