Job Description

JOB TITLE:  Residential Mortgage Loan Officer (Bilingual)
LOCATION:  Walden, NY (with work from home capability)
SALARY:  $40,000 Base + Commissions (estimated 1st year salary of $100,000 - $120,000)
JOB TYPE:  Permanent, Full Time                  

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  

To solicit new mortgage loans and establish relationships that will cultivate a referral system to generate new mortgage loans. Interview prospective loan customers, take loan application along with collection of credit documentation and provide sound service throughout the mortgage loan process through closing. Responsible for adherence to compliance guidelines and to the requirements of federal registration under the SAFE Act.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Actively solicit residential mortgage loan leads, to increase loan production and generate sales.
  • Perform Realtor, Attorney, Builder and Financial Planner visits and actively market the Association’s mortgage loan products.
  • Attend Chamber of Commerce functions and Community Associations to build relationships and generate a referral system for mortgage loans and banking business in general.
  • Meet or exceed annual mortgage loan sales goals.   
  • Meet with prospective mortgage customers, conduct interviews, and take mortgage applications.
  • Assist in coordinating the scheduling of all closings with closing department, Attorney’s office and customers and attend closings as needed.
  • Follow up with all loans in process to expedite closings.
  • Stay current on changes to applicable regulations, specifically mortgage/loan related regulations and Bank Secrecy Act requirements. 
  ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  1. Completion of Bank assigned online training classes.
  2. Keeps abreast of all industry trends.
  3. Attends training programs, conferences and meetings as required to gain industry knowledge and establish relationships with other professionals in the field of Lending.
  4. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE:  
  1. High school diploma or equivalent certificate required.
  2. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  3. A minimum of two years previous Residential Mortgage Originations experience is required.
  4. Must be eligible to register or is registered with NMLS (National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry)
  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:  
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Good presentation skills.
  3. Ability to multi-task and handle varying deadlines within a fast-paced work environment.
  4. Excellent customer service skills.
  5. Ability to understand and apply basic mathematical concepts.
  6. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  7. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
  WORK ENVIRONMENT:  
  1. Typically the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  2. Valid Driver’s license as Local to Regional travel is required.
  3. Will have high volume of interactions in person and over the telephone.
  4. Fast-paced environment.
  5. May experience occasional job stress in response to job demands.
  6. There are no significant hazardous conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
  1. Ability to work long hours and handle stress.
  2. Frequently required to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Normal range of vision, hearing, and speaking abilities are required.
  4. The ability to skillfully operate a computer, telephone and other standard office equipment is required.
  5. Travel outside of work location to attend meetings and training programs.
  6. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
