Job Summary:
We are seeking the key management leader for our nonprofit organization.  The Executive Director will report to the Board and be responsible for ensuring that the mission of our ogranization is fulfilled. Working with the Board you will develop plans, policies, community outreach and oversee the operations of our organization.
We are a community supported non-medical residential home, which functions as a hospice supported safe haven for residents who, for various reasons, can not die in their own home. The Executive Director will have a part time Administrator and part time Volunteer Coordinator reporting, together with caregivers, aides and trained volunteers. This person will not be responsible for the direct care of the two home residents, but will have the responsibility of ensuring that the residents receive twentyfour hour compassionate care in a safe and comfortable environment. They will do this by leading a team of nurturing caregivers, support staff and volunteers, following care plans provided by Hospice, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
• This person will work with the Board and staff to develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
• They will oversee the daily operations of the Home, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures and updating them as necessary.
• Supervise staff, hire aides, provide guidance, training and support to ensure high standards of care.
• Ensure compliance with state regulations and requirements for Comfort Care Homes facilities.
• Maintain and foster professional relationships with city officials, hospice, hospitals, medical providers, religious organizations, and the human services community at large.
• Research and apply for appropriate grants and ensure all requirements of grants obtained are fulfilled.
• Plan, initiate and oversee fundraising efforts run by the Board and volunteers or outside contractors.
• Collaborate with the Board and Finance Committee in creating and managing annual operating budgets.
• Facilitate communication between residents, families, and staff to promote a positive and welcoming living and working environment.
• Work with Hospice and their intake procedure to receive residents, and ensure their plan of care for each resident is followed.
• Proactively represent our organization in the community and engage with other community leaders.
Qualifications:
• RN, LPN, Nurse Practitioner, or BSN in Healthcare, Administration, and or Palliative/Hospice care.
• Proven experience in operations management and planning and demonstrated team leadership, ideally within a residential or home care setting. Familiarity with hospice, palliative care or the Comfort Care Home model is an advantage.
• Experience working with a small community based organization or not-for-profit as an employee or volunteer would be a plus, particularly experience with fundraising.
• A belief in, and a commitment to the Comfort Home model, and a determination to provide compassionate care to residents and their families is essential.
• A demonstrated pro-active approach to problems and problem solving.
• Experience of grants, grants research and applications.
• Communication skills, written and verbal and comfort with public speaking.
• Effective use of on-line tools and software, including accounting, database and general office applications.
