Vice President, Strategy & Operations
Our organization is seeking a strategic, enterprise-minded Vice President, Strategy & Operations to help guide the organization through its next phase of growth. Reporting to the President & CEO, this role is a core member of the Executive Leadership Team and serves as a principal thought partner in shaping organizational strategy, strengthening internal infrastructure, and ensuring our organization operates with discipline, clarity, and long-term sustainability.
The Vice President, Strategy & Operations functions as an integrator across the organization—aligning strategy, operations, people systems, and financial infrastructure. This leader ensures that internal systems, execution, and governance keep pace with our ambitions. The role carries significant responsibility for translating vision into operational reality and for stewarding organizational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Executive Leadership & Enterprise Strategy
Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic thought partner to the President & CEO on organizational priorities, risk, and capacity.
Act as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring alignment across strategy, operations, finances, and people systems.
Lead enterprise-wide strategic initiatives that require cross-functional coordination, executive judgment, and sustained follow-through.
Translate Board and committee priorities into clear operational plans, milestones, and accountability structures.
Organizational Operations & Systems (Approximately 75%)
Oversee day-to-day organizational operations, technology, facilities, data, and vendor-managed services while driving continuous improvement.
Lead CRM optimization and data governance to strengthen reporting, institutional knowledge, and cross-team coordination.
Supervise the Communications Specialist and the part-time Administrative/Operations Assistant.
Align operational planning with staffing capacity, financial realities, and long-term strategic objectives.
People Systems & PEO Oversight
Serve as the organization's senior point of accountability for the PEO relationship, ensuring high-quality delivery across payroll, benefits, compliance, onboarding/offboarding, and employee support.
Promote a professional, collaborative, and values-aligned workplace culture by modeling accountability, clarity, and effective communication.

Provide guidance to staff to ensure role clarity, consistent expectations, and alignment with our organization's mission and values.
Â
Address employee relations matters at a strategic level, escalating to the PEO or external advisors as appropriate.
Oversee the operational and financial infrastructure of our supporting organization, ensuring strong internal controls, accurate transactions, and regulatory compliance.
Partner closely with the CFO on budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation across the enterprise.
Coordinate with auditors to support Form 990 preparation and consolidated financial reporting.
Assess operational investments and cost structures in light of strategic priorities and organizational scale.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
8–10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit operations, administration, or organizational management.
Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with organization-wide impact.
Strong operational and financial acumen, including budgeting, reporting, and internal controls.
Experience building systems and infrastructure that support growth, accountability, and strategic execution.
Familiarity with philanthropy, impact investing, or mission-aligned finance is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation for this role is competitive within the Hudson Valley nonprofit market and will reflect experience and scope of responsibility. This is a full-time, exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off; health, dental, and vision insurance (with 100% of employee health premiums paid by our organization for the employee); and a 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% safe harbor contribution. Employees follow a hybrid schedule, except during the first 90 days of employment.
